Cockburn’s Port is from a historic Port house going back to the early 1800. Founded by Scotsman Robert Cockburn on his return to Oporto after previously fighting in the Napoleonic Wars under Wellington, it became a major brand throughout the 19th and 20th Centuries.
The company’s base is based in the Upper Douro and its flagship is the Special Reserve, first released in 1969. Matured in oak casks for five years prior to bottling, it offers a more modern style of wine and drinking well.
